Private Collection Colt Army Special .38 serial number 429807 with 5" barrel
- Blue finish with deluxe factory carved recessed medallion ivory stocks
with steer head motif on right stock. Marked on left of
barrel:

This Colt Army Special was a single gun shipment to
William A MacRae, Sheriff, Address Unavailable, September 6, 1917.
The special work was processed on Colt Factory Order number 630.
While the letter says "Eagle Motif.", the stocks are factory fitted to
the gun, so this is most likely an error in the shipping records.
Sheriff William A. MacRae was sheriff of Wyoming County,
New York from 1915 to 1917. He was born in 1875 and died in 1946
and remained in Wyoming County during his life.

- left side. Top of barrel contains patent dates.
Fronts and backs of Colt Deluxe Carved Steer Head Ivory
stocks. Notice the method used to stake the blind escutcheon in the
right stock.
Sides of hammer are polished white.
Left side plate with rampant Colt and stylized "C" logo. Trigger
and screws are fire blued.
Barrel Muzzle and front sight.
