Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP serial number 135497 issued to Brigadier General Dabney Otey Elliott on August 30, 1944.

Brigadier General Dabney O. Elliott (1890-1976) was born on October 13, 1890, in Sewanee, Tennessee. He was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers from West Point in 1914. Chief of staff of IX Corps 1941-1942. Brigadier general in June 1943. Chief engineer for Allied Forces in the North African Theater of Operations 1943-1944. Commanding general of engineers in the China Theater of Operations 1944-1946. Retired in 1950. Decorations included the Distinguished Service Medal and two Legions of Merit. Died on June 20, 1976.

Colt Model M .380 ACP serial number 135497 issued to Brigadier General Dabney Otey Elliott - Bottom of original box showing serial number and "Brig. Gen. Dabney O. Elliott" written over "Ser # O3369".  This could be an error as BG Dabney's number is also recorded as "O-3669".

Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP serial number 135497 and American Eagle  Luger Model 1900 7.65mm serial number 6060 - these pistols are from the estate of  Brigadier General Dabney O. Elliott.  This Luger has all the characteristics of the 1,000 test pistols ordered by the U.S. Government and based on the available historical information, it's inconclusive if this pistol was one of the actual test pistols. (Some collectors count only those guns from the known Bannerman sales following the military trials as legitimate Model 1900 Test Lugers.)

American Eagle  Luger Model 1900 7.65mm serial number 6060 (right side) - This Luger has all the characteristics of the 1,000 test pistols ordered by the U.S. Government and based on the available historical information, it's inconclusive if this pistol was one of the actual test pistols.

American Eagle Luger Model 1900 7.65mm serial number 6060 with original holster - this pistol belonged to Brigadier General Dabney O. Elliott. The Luger has all the characteristics of the 1,000 test pistols ordered by the U.S. Government and based on the available historical information, it's inconclusive if this pistol was one of the actual test pistols. Of note, the style of American Eagle on pistol 6060 has "squared tail feathers" which is the same marking as those observed on pistols 6005, 6018, 6020 and 6048.  Examples 6893 and above have been observed with rounded tail feathers.

Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 ACP original box serial number 135497 issued to Brigadier General Dabney Otey Elliott - faint pencil note on the top of the box says "This pistol is loaded, fireable."
