B. Franklin "Ben" Conner was the President of Colt's from 1949 - 1955.  Under Graham Anthony, who interpreted his position at Colt's as more of a management consultant than CEO, Anthony delegated the operating responsibility of Colt's to Ben Conner, who was elevated to executive vice-president in 1946.

Conner came to Colt's in 1920 when his family's plastics business, Conner & Lattin of Newark, was acquired.  Since that time he has been primarily concerned with running the Plastics Division.  Sometime after 1946, Under Anthony's guidance, Conner tackled the job of relocating and modernizing the three divisions -- dishwasher, gun and plastics.

The right mother of pearl grip bears the factory black enameled monogram "C.F.R."  It is believe that this pistol was ordered and presented to one of Conner's business associates when considering the expense account to which it was charged.
