Gun, Dart, Carbon Dioxide Propelled and code named "Flying
Dragon,"
SAC-46 (MRL Project Number 298)
On February 26, 1945 Col. Carl F. Eifler requested for a special mission, twelve dart guns, now dubbed the Gun, Dart, Carbon Dioxide Propelled and code named "Flying Dragon," SAC-46 (MRL Project Number 298). OSS SO reported on March 21, 1945, that there was no particular need for a gas dart gun at that time.
Because of Col. Eifler's request, six samples were made by April 12, 1945 by the Long Engineering and Research Company under Contract Number OSS-1055 (Requisition Number 48237, File Number 790, Index Number 355, Manufacturing and Inspection Specifications Number 107). Tested on that date, they were returned for a number of modifications along with instructions to make nine more. By June 29, 1945 the fifteen were shipped at a cost of $3,800 and the project was considered completed.
