.38 SPECIAL |
This revolver, serial number 37415, was dropped among other
equipment by the RAF over the eastern parts of Norway during WW 2, which
were meant for the Norwegian Home resistance (Milorg), who fought the German
occupants.
The “Milorg” was trained by top skilled Norwegian soldiers. This soldiers
were parachuted over several areas in Norway, after finishing their training
in fighting, sabotage and anti-sabotage in Scotland. They belonged to “The
Linge Company”, after founder Capt.. Martin Linge, who was killed in action
at Måløy at the 27. des. 1941, leading his troops against the local German
headquarter at Ulvesund Hotel.
According to relevant Norwegian literature – the book “The Canons play
Chopin” by Arne F. Egner, that lists most of the equipment that was dropped
over Norway by the RAF, the Colt Commando .38 special was dropped in very
small numbers.
