Colt Service Model Ace .22 LR - Serial Number SM 493 (ca. 1938),  Commercial Shipment to Von Lengerke & Antoine, Chicago, Illinois

Colt Service Model Ace Serial Number SM493 - Early variation with Type I Stevens sight and earliest style slide markings.  Slide has matching serial number located under the firing pin stop.

Service Model Ace serial number SM493 was one of three guns shipped to Von Lengerke and Antoine, Chicago, Illinois on July 21, 1938.  Since the majority of the examples of the Service Model Ace were shipped to the military, commercially shipped examples are fairly uncommon.

Colt Service Model Ace Serial Number SM493 - Right side slide markings are from the Ace roll die with the words "SERVICE" and "MODEL" on opposing sided of the bottom of the Ace diamond on the right side:
